'Auchindrain Museum - Significant to the Nation'

The Township of Auchindrain, has, along with five other Museum Collections located across Scotland, been recognised as being significant to the nation under the Recognition Scheme.

Managed by Museums Galleries Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, the Recognition Scheme aims to identify, and subsequently support, Museum Collections of national significance held in Scotland’s Museums and Galleries.

This announcement brings the number of Recognised Collections of National Significance across Scotland to 33. Custodians of Recognised Collections are presented with specially designed plaques and certificates. They also currently have the opportunity to bid for up to £40,000 of funding to undertake a project to increase access to their Collections and improve how they are cared for.

The six latest Recognised Collections are:

1) The Township of Auchindrain
2) Museum of Edinburgh, Applied Art Collection
3) Elgin Museum, Fossil Collection
4) National Burns Collection Partnership
5) Orkney Islands Council, Archaeology Collection
6) Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, Scottish Art Collection
